You might not always say the right thing - but it will mean the world that you tried šŸŒŽ

I’ve been sitting with this one for a while and I hope it comes across as I’m intending it to - which is from a position of gratitude and good vibes. šŸ™ šŸ’•āœŒļø

I think when someone we know is going through anything challenging in their lives, we always delve deep to find the ā€˜right words’ to say to that person. Sometimes we worry so much about it that we maybe don’t say anything at all - so as not to say the wrong thing.

But something that has struck me in this last year is that we are all so complex and so unique that you probably won’t say the right thing - but it will mean the world that you tried.šŸŒŽ

I came to this conclusion when I was lying in the bath (a glorious luxury as a parentšŸ˜†) thinking about something someone had said to us about Arlo’s CF that had hit a nerve for some reason. I wasn’t angry, I just thought it was an odd thing to say. And I was thinking of what I might have said in their position and I realised that in times like this, it’s such a fine line. What I might find comforting could be completely the opposite of what someone else in my position wants to hear. And I realised I was just grateful they were talking to us about Arloā€˜s CF - and asking questions and showing an interest.

So to be honest, you may well not say the ā€˜right thing’. But that’s okay - because you are trying and you are here for us - and that’s what truly matters.

So thank you if you have been there for us - and to those who continue to do so. Even if you feel like you don’t know what to say at times or you feel like you might have said the wrong thing or asked the wrong question, the fact that you said anything at all is something I am eternally grateful for.

Sending nothing but gratitude and good vibes - and I hope to be able to return the favour many times in the future.

Arlo’s Army: We Won’t Stop Until CF Does

There’s no cure for CF yet. Even with groundbreaking new treatments, daily life for people with CF remains a heavy burden and many aren't eligible for these new drugs. That's why we're raising money. To fund cutting-edge research. To support families like ours. To keep pushing until CF stands for Cured Forever.

CF affects over 11,000 people in the UK — and more than 100,000 globally. It impacts the lungs, pancreas, and other organs, turning mucus thick and sticky, and making everyday life a battle for breath.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is leading the charge to change this. They fund game-changing science, support families, and fight for better treatments, care, and — one day — a cure.

Join Arlo’s Army today.

Stand with us. Donate. Share. Fight for a future where no child has to grow up fighting CF.
