Keeping things sterile

After the blog about the daily medication that Arlo is on it dawned on me today that you should see the man behind those syringes!

When you have a baby it is rather intimidating how much you need to sterilise regardless of whether your baby has any special care needs - especially if you want to pump and/or bottle feed in any capacity in those early days. Or at least I remember struggling through a haze of tiredness to remember what time I’d put the steriliser on and how long everything in it would be sterile for!

Then when Arlo was diagnosed with CF there was suddenly a whole lot more to keep sterile.

Syringes for medication (and when he’s on a course of antibiotics if he’s cultured a particular bacteria it can end up being at least 9 syringes a day🙈)

Pep mask for physio

Baby spoons for administering creon

The utensils required to make up his antibiotics

All this plus a bottle for his one bottle feed (keeps mama sane!) and my pump paraphernalia when I was pumping.

And the man behind this daily task is my hero of a husband @helloiammarty. He makes sure the steriliser is kept de-scaled and in mint condition. And every morning he loads it up and makes sure everything that Arlo and I need is sterilised and ready to go for us.

Total legend! And such a vital job!

CF Mama Doin' A Runner for the CF Trust UK

In January, I set myself the challenge to run the distance from Lands End to John O'Groats (1,083.8 miles) to raise money for the CF Trust UK - a charity that supports families with CF, assists with pivotal research and drug developments, and helps to raise awareness of the condition. If you would like to make a donation please click the button.
